As the second round of the NFL playoffs appear on the horizon it becomes time to look into our crystal ball and make our predictions for the four upcoming contests which should be the most exciting in years.
We will first look at what has to be the feature game on the weekend and that is the number one ranked AFC team The San Diego Chargers {14-2} hosting the {13-4} New England Patriots. The game is in San Diego and for that reason alone the Chargers should be favoured as history shows Eastern teams have had virtually no success at Playoff time on the West Coast..However in this one you can throw out the form charts
The reason being Bill Belichick and Tom Brady ,the coach and Quarterback of the Pats. There can be no doubt in anybody's mind that Tom Brady is a winner as since taking over from Drew Bledsoe as The Patriots number one signal caller in 2001 his playoff record is 11 and 1 with three Super Bowl rings and a Super Bowl MVP award to show for his efforts. Brady has been razor sharp lately with no interceptions in five of his last six games.
Belichick as a Head Coach in playoff action is considered to be one of the best because of his ability to motivate his team to perform at optimum levels and his ability to make adjustments on the fly.
On the other hand Marty Schottenheimer, San Diego's head honcho, has a 5-12 record in the playoffs and his inability to get his division winning Cleveland Browns and Kansas City Cheifs into the SuperBowl is history.Marty,s teams in the past have had trouble winning the big games. This game will be no different as the New Englanders will break the hearts of the San Diego faithful.
We are predicting that the Patriots will do it again and advance to the AFC Final against Baltimore who will defeat the Indianapolis Colts because of the play of their top ranked defence .The Colt defence was impressive in defeating Kansas City last weekend but since Head Coach Brian Billick took over the play calling the Raven offence has improved dramatically.and will be to much for the Colts to handle and the playoff jinx that haunts the Peyton Manning lead crew will once again rear its ugly head.
Over in the NFC you expect another upset with Jeff Garcia, the former Calgary Stampeder, leading the Eagles {10-6} to a close decision over the New Orleans Saints[10-6] before a wild and woolly crowd at the Superdome. The Eagles are loaded with playoff experience and are six and one with Garcia at the controls and have been in the NFC playoffs for the last five consecutive years. The Saints on the other hand have only seen post season action .on a couple of occassions. The Eagles are hitting on all cylinders and win the battle in the trenches on both sides of the ball. And running back Brian Westbrook is playing the best football of his career.
The other game features the number one ranked NFL team The Monsters of the Midway the Chicago Bears at {13-3} against the Seattle Seahawks{9-7} who struggled to win their division and were lucky to beat Dallas last weekend. The Seahawks are injury riddled.and for that reason the well rested Bears should have little trouble in coming out on the long end of the score and acquire the right to host the NFC Championship game on the 14th of this month.
So there you have it. The winners will be The Patriots and,The Ravens in the AFC and The Eagles and Bears in the NFC. You can take it to the bank.

Good stuff John. Just think, Bill Belichick was bascially thrown out of Cleveland and deemed as a rotten coach, even though he had a good track record with the Giants as an assistant. With new England, he is in a good situation as is now revered as a "master coach and schemist." Go figure
